Rather than migrating three legacy systems piecemeal, Tony and his team chose to build from scratch using the NetMenu consolidation project as an opportunity to finally construct the department they always wanted. Corewell partnered with Illumia to implement a single enterprise instance of NetMenu across all 24 hospitals.

The team aligned all diet naming conventions, product libraries, recipes, and menus into one unified database over an 18-month runway, deliberately timed to be ready before the health system's Epic go-live. By beating Epic to the finish line with a single connected NetMenu instance, Corewell only had to build the integration once

The Results

SKU consolidation alone tells the story. What was once 10 to 12 variants of a single product like chicken tenders was reduced to two.

When multiplied across an entire product library, the purchasing savings were significant enough that ROI from reduced food costs funded the project.
