CS Gold 9 uses artificial intelligence (AI) to make it easier for users to ask questions and get meaningful answers from their CS Gold data—using everyday language—while keeping institutional data secure and under your control.
Rather than replacing CS Gold logic or database access, AI acts as an assistant layer that helps interpret questions and improve how information is retrieved and presented.
How it works
1. Ask Questions in Plain Language
Users interact with CS Gold through the standard web interface. They can ask questions or request information without needing to understand database structure or SQL.
2. CS Gold Controls the Request
All requests are processed by the CS Gold application running within your campus environment. A dedicated SQL Agent manages how requests are interpreted and ensures that all activity follows CS Gold security rules.
3. Secure AI Assistance
When AI support is needed, CS Gold securely communicates with a Large Language Model (LLM) hosted on AWS using Amazon Bedrock. A dedicated LLM Agent authenticates and authorizes each request.
Important: The AI does not connect directly to your database. Instead, CS Gold retrieves the data and shares only the query results with the AI, allowing it to verify accuracy and refine responses as needed. Your data remains in your environment at all times and is never retained by the AI.
4. Results You Can Trust
The results of every SQL query are temporarily made available to the AI solely for evaluation and conversion to a plain-language response. However, there is no direct database access by AI.

- Campus data remains completely secure and private: Inputs and outputs are never shared with other customers or model providers, or used to train or fine tune any foundational AI models.
- Authenticated and authorized requests only: AI services respond only to trusted CS Gold components
- Campus‑controlled execution: SQL runs under existing CS Gold permissions and roles
- No data retention by the AI: AI responses are transient and task‑specific
